We can't speak for all builders on this one, but we will give you our answer about our rods to the best of our ability. When ordering a custom Scenko Stix rod, you can expect to get exactly what you're looking for in a fishing rod. With a custom rod, the customer has complete say over not only the length and action of the rod, and what components are used, but how the rod will look. All of our custom rods are built by Scenko Stix owner, Alex Terescenko. Alex's attention to detail is unmatched and he continuously strives to better himself as a builder. You can learn more about Alex and his passion for rod building here.

Our production rods are made in the USA, just as our custom rods are, but they're not made by Alex. Alex has extensively trained his best friend, Sam, to build all of our BTO Series rods. Though they may differ cosmetically from our custom rods, our production rods are built on the same rod blanks, follow the same guide spacing protocalls as our custom rods, and they perform just as well.

All in all, our mission is to provide passionate anglers with tools that help them feel confident on the water. We go through many processes to ensure that all of our rods meet or exceed our customers' expectations.

Contrary to popular belief, and though we understand the confusion, we have no affiliation with the Senko worm by Gary Yamamoto. Scenko Stix's owner is Alex Terescenko. It was actually Florida Pro Matt Wieteha who coined the name "Scenko Stix" (after Alex's last name) as he was encouraging Alex to start selling rods that, at the time, he was only making for close friends and his own personal use.

Although it doesn't happen often, all rods have the posibility of breaking. There are many factors that come into play over time that can jeprodize the integrity of a rod blank. The good news is that any rod that is truly defective will break within the first few uses. Breakages caused by a defective rod blank will typically be a clean break, not frayed or showing stress cracks at the break. If your rod breaks within the first few times you use it, granted that it is under normal circumstances, then it is likely defective and we will replace it free of charge. This applies to both our custom rods and our production rods.

As mentioned above, there are many factors over time that can jeprodize the integrity of a rod blank. Micro fractures that are too small to see can develop in the blank when it is hit by another object. As time goes on and with each use, these fractures become bigger and eventually create a weak spot in blank. This can happen without you ever being aware of it. So although your rod really might've broken on that 2 pounder, it was the stress fractures that had developed over time that caused the rod to break, not a defective rod. We offer a replacement program for rods that are not covered by our warranty. Production Series rods can be replaced within 2 years of purchase for $120.00 plus shipping and handling. Due to pricing differences amongst custom rods, we handle those on a case by case basis. To begin a warranty claim, please click here.
